What happens when my child is ready for their own phone?

You release it, and it becomes an ordinary phone. Same handset, same number, same photos and messages. There is nothing to buy and nothing to migrate, and your child keeps the phone they have been using for years.

Releasing ends supervision for good. Paired Parent stops running, the filtering stops, the approvals stop, and what is left is the phone they already know. It is not a setting you toggle back on afterwards.

Usually it takes both of you, within ten minutes of each other: the main parent on their phone, and someone at your child's phone. Or a parent at your child's phone can do it with the parent PIN and a code we email to the address on your account. That is deliberate, so it can't happen by accident or by your child alone.

If your subscription ends, supervision stops, and nothing on the phone is deleted. Ten days after the unpaid date you can factory reset the phone yourself, which erases it like any reset. And if the phone hears nothing from our servers for 10 days, a parent can release it there with the PIN alone, without the parent app or an email.

This is worth knowing before you subscribe, because it is the part most parents don't think to ask about. The phone is not rented and it is not locked to us. It is your child's phone with supervision on it, and one day it is just their phone.
