A boy browses on a tablet and his sister on a phone, on a sunny living-room couch

Websites

Filtered across the whole phone.

From the moment it's paired, your child's phone looks up every website through our filter. It works across the phone rather than in one browser, a new browser waits for your yes like any app, and the filter can't be switched off on the phone.

Filter levels

Pick how strict. Change it as they grow.

  • Choose Monitor only, Minimal, Moderate or Strict. Each level blocks everything the one below it does, and more.
  • Malware and phishing sites are blocked at every level, and pornography at every level except Monitor only.
  • Minimal also blocks VPNs and other ways around the filter; Moderate adds gambling and drug sites, and Strict adds social networking.
  • It starts at Strict until you choose, so nothing slips through while you're still deciding.

Your say, site by site

Allow or block any site yourself.

  • In Browsing history, tap a site's tick to allow it or its block mark to block it, whatever the level. Tap again to hand it back to the filter.
  • Your choice stays until you change it.
  • With more than one child, you can apply the same choice for your other children.
  • For a stricter filter, you can also block sites the filter doesn’t recognize. Apps you’ve approved keep working.

Browsing history

The last five days, kept on your phone only.

  • See which sites were looked up, how often, when, and any blocked attempts.
  • It shows sites, not the pages or searches inside them.
  • History is kept for five days on your phone and nowhere else. You can export it as a spreadsheet.

What your child sees

No surprises.

A blocked site simply doesn't load. There's no page telling them why. Your child's phone tells them, in its notice about supervision, that the websites it looks up are visible to you.

Good to know

  • Blocking works on whole sites, not single pages.
  • Now and then, a site looked up by another device on the same Wi-Fi can appear in the history.
  • If a network blocks the filter, or our filter server can’t be reached, the phone isn’t filtered until it can be. Your app tells you when that happens.
  • Our filter server sees which sites are looked up, against an ID that isn't linked to your family, and keeps each lookup for at most 24 hours.
  • For a child under 13, web filtering stays off until you've confirmed you're an adult, a check done through Kids Web Services, part of Epic Games.

Can I control which websites my child visits?

Yes. Choose a filter level, from Monitor only to Strict, and allow or block any site yourself from Browsing history. The filter works across your child's phone, not in one browser, and a new browser waits for your yes like any app. A blocked site simply doesn't load.
